The British Security Awards took place on 21stJune.
Organised by the British Security Industry Association, the Awards celebrate the achievements, acts of bravery and innovations made by members of the the British Security Industry.
Loomis were chosen as one the finalists in a sector that’s very close to our heart - Environmental Project of the Year. And we’re delighted to tell you, WE WON!
Loomis emerged as the proud winner of the Environmental Project of the Year Award in recognition of our joint efforts with our vehicle build specialist Fleet Services, to reduce the carbon footprint of our Cash & Valuables in Transit operations.
Jointly, we’ve been exploring the possibility of using solar panels fitted to our vehicles to negate the need to idle vehicles during services, draw power from fuel consumption and charge from mains power overnight to maintain the batteries health.
Simply put, the solution involves ultra-thin solar mats applied to the roof of the vehicle which then connect to a Smart Charge Controller, which regulates the transfer of energy from the alternator and solar mats to the battery. Sensors then monitor all electrical characteristics, calculating fuel & C02 saved by the utilisation of clean, solar energy.
Solar mats are now a solution that is now fitted to the Loomis fleet as standard in build and it’s a significant step forward on our journey to greater sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint and achieving environmental targets.
Looms firmly believes in environmental responsibility and we are committed to driving positive change in our industry.
Our thanks to the @British Security Industry Association (BSIA) for recognising our commitment to sustainability; this achievement would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our talented and passionate team members.
Thank you also to and to all our valued partners and clients for their trust and support.
